SCOTUS declines to hear DACA appeal

By The Staff

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to entertain the Trump Administration’s appeal of a federal judge’s prior ruling on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or “DACA” program, stating simply, “[i]t is assumed the court of appeals will act expeditiously to decide this case” in its order.

The lower court previously ruled that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) must continue accepting DACA renewal applications, a decision impacting approximately 700,000 children of illegal immigrants.

It’s a legal setback for President Trump who wanted to shutter the program by March 5th.
