CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. – Former Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi (R-1) won the backing of Cape May County’s Republicans on Monday night in pursuit of the NJ-02 congressional nomination.

District 2 encompasses all of Salem, Cumberland, Cape May and Atlantic counties in addition to portions of Gloucester, Camden, Burlington and Ocean counties.

Fiocchi needs to overcome seven rivals in his quest to challenge presumptive Democrat nominee Jeff Van Drew in November: A.C. businessman Hirsh Singh, Somers Point Councilman Jim Toto, criminal defense attorney John Zarych, engineer Brian Fitzherbert, retired FBI Agent Bob Turkavage, Trump activist Mark McGovern, and conservative activist Seth Grossman.

Singh, who has the backing of Ocean and Burlington Republicans, placed a close second.
