Murphy to propose raising N.J. sales tax in first budget

Gov. Phil Murphy is set Tuesday to unveil his first state budget proposal that will include more than $1.5 billion in new revenue from taxes and closing loopholes, including a small spike in the state’s sale tax, NJ Advance Media has learned.
