REPORT: Petraeus weighs in on NJ-03 Democrat nominee’s disputed resume

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The retired United States Army general and former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency may have thrown some cold water on NJ-03 Democrat nominee Andy Kim’s major resume line.

This week, the Shore News Network reported that General Petraeus had confirmed Kim was part of the Commander’s Initiatives Group (CIG), “which included speechwriters and a handful of other very thoughtful, intelligent individuals,” adding that “CIGs are essentially internal think thanks that typically provide direct support to high level commanders and members of the Joint Chiefs.”

Politico previously cited Kim as a mere “junior level national security aide” as of 2014, a classification which seems to jive with Petraeus’s recollection.

Kim had self-styled himself a “strategic advisor.”

“Andy Kim’s embellishments, evidence-free denials, and outright lies have now reached a compulsive and serial level,” said MacArthur strategist Chris Russell.  “At this point, nothing about Andy Kim’s story should be accepted as fact without further examination by the media. Not one thing. It’s time to dial up the scrutiny and realize that he no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt on anything he claims or says.”

The Petraeus angle emerged shortly after N.J. Assemblyman and Navy SEAL Ryan Peters chastised Kim for his embellishments.

Kim is attempting to unseat Republican incumbent Tom MacArthur.
