TRENTON, N.J. — Pope Francis once again waded into the political realm this week, equating gossip to “terrorism.”
Does he have a point?
Save Jersey Founder and Blogger-in-Chief Matt Rooney rejoined the Chasing News A+ Panel on Wednesday to consider the Pope’s comments in the American context.
Rooney pointed out that, like it or not, nastiness is nothing new.
“This is where people have such short historical memories, and it’s a problem,” said Rooney. “If you go back to the beginning of the Republic, the thins that John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, and Thomas Jefferson said about one another, often in the press that was affiliated with their respective parties, it would curl your hair.”
