WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is questioning a series of donations to the campaign of two-term Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D, NJ-05).
On April 7, 2019, the FEC sent a letter to Gottheimer’s campaign treasurer inquiring into “one or more contributions that appear to exceed the limits set forth in the Act.” The FEC demanded a formal response from the campaign committee by May 13, 2019 to aid in its determination as to “whether audit action will be initiated.”

The full letter posted to the FEC’s public portal is also viewable here.
A two-page list attached to the FEC letter details tens of thousands of dollars in donations spanning between June 2017 and November 2018.
A loyal member of the greater Clinton circle, Gottheimer is a fundraising dynamo in his own right. He raised $830,063 for the first quarter of 2019. The Democrat raised $7,002,979 overall during the aforementioned 2018 midterm cycle.
