Facebook Fail: Somerset Dems encourage those who ‘hate our country’ to run for office

SOMERVILLE, N.J. – The Somerset County Democrat Committee raised more than a few eyebrows over the weekend when they posted a meme to their official Facebook page encouraging those who “hate our country” to run for office.

“If you hate our country or if you are not happy here,” the meme explains, “you can run for office” as opposed to leaving the country (a popular far left refrain in the Trump era).

The meme was subsequently deleted from the organization’s page but not before a Save Jersey reader captured the following screenshot:

A trend? Sadly… yes.

In July, Gallup found only 22% of Democrats nationally saying they were ‘extremely proud’ to be American..

Republicans face a control fight this upcoming November 2019 over their long-standing dominance of county government; their freeholder majority dropped from 5-0 to 3-2 this past January after a dismal 2018 election.

Somerset County Democrats haven’t had a freeholder board majority since 1964.

This year, Democrat challenger Melonie Marano seeks to dislodge Republican freeholder incumbent Pat Walsh while Bill Parenti (R) and Darrin Russo are battling it out for the sheriff’s office.
