TRENTON, N.J. – Veteran New Jersey GOP operative Ron Filan will serve as defecting Democrat Congressman Jeff Van Drew’s campaign manager.
The news was announced on Thursday evening. Filan is a former NJGOP political director and campaign manager for state Senator Chris Brown of LD2. He also ran the competitive but unsuccessful LD1 state senate campaign of Republican David DeWeese against Van Drew in 2013.

“There is no finer Republican operative with deeper roots in South Jersey than Ron Filan,” said Van Drew. “The Washington liberals are looking to take down me and President Trump, but like I told the President in the Oval Office, we will win this seat – because while the Washington liberals are focused on scoring political points, I’m focused on creating more South Jersey jobs and making our country even stronger.”
Van Drew’s general consultant is Bill Stepien, former Christie campaign manager and ex-White House political director.
