ELECTION 2020: Valenziano will succeed Winegar as NJGOP Executive Director

TRENTON, N.J. – The New Jersey Republican State Committee announced a pre-2020 shake-up on Tuesday evening as the NJGOP prepares for a big federal campaign cycle.

Phil Valenziano will take over as Executive Director for the state party, replacing Theresa Winegar who will serve as campaign manager of State Senator Tom Kean Jr.’s 7th Congressional district bid.

“Theresa Winegar has been an integral part of the NJGOP’s fight to re-build, re-brand and re-engage,” said Chairman Steinhardt. “Her leadership helped lead us to our best legislative gains in 28 years, and a completely re-invigorated GOP in New Jersey. She will be sorely missed, but we are pleased to announce that Phil Valenziano will be stepping in to help the NJGOP build on that success,” said Steinhart. “Republicans in New Jersey have real opportunities in 2020 and 2021 and Phil is a sharp an experienced operative. He will be a tremendous asset as the NJGOP helps deliver a majority in Congress and takes back the Governorship.”

Winegar is widely credited with helping Steinhardt revitalize the NJGOP following the Christie malaise.

Valenziano most recently served as campaign manager for Jay Webber’s 2018 NJ-11 campaign; he’s also worked for Chris Christie and Mitt Romney among other high profile Republicans.
