Is Pelosi writing off Tom Malinowski? Her latest move suggests the answer is “yes.”

Republicans currently boast a 3.4-point lead in the generic congressional ballot nationally, and a new Cynal poll (click here for my interview with pollster Brock McCleary) suggests Democrats are underwater in New Jersey, too.

We’re rapidly approaching the time when Democrat leaders will need to start making difficult decisions. They can’t save everyone – or close to everyone – if Joe Biden’s horrific job approval numbers persist into the summer months.

One of the biggest losers is likely to be Tom Malinowski (D, NJ-07).

His district got more Republican/red in redistricting (Jack Ciattarelli carried his newly-reconfigured district by 11-points last November). Worse still, an ongoing ethics probe into unreported stock trades continues to hang over the two-term incumbent’s campaign. Remember: this guy got reelected by only 4,000 votes in 2020, a “good” Democrat cycle in the Garden State. The writing may be on the wall.

Nancy Pelosi apparently agrees.

The New York Times is reporting that Speaker Pelosi’s super PAC is making major ad buys in an attempt to protect a growing list of vulnerable House Democrats.

Malinowski is conspicuously absent from the list. His Republican rivals seized upon his omission to call on the far-Left Democrat to quit.

“Tom Malinowski’s own party has already written him off as a loss this November. He should retire before he loses to spare himself the embarrassment,” said NRCC Spokeswoman Samantha Bullock.

Of course, Republicans are happy for Malinowski to remain in the race. They think he’s a wounded animal, and it doesn’t look like anyone is coming to save him in the current environment.
