UPDATE: Nord Stream lobbyist has given $15k to N.J. House Democrats

Last month, Save Jerseyans, we pointed out that Rep. U.S. Tom “Moscow” Malinowski (D, NJ-07) had pocketed $8,600 in contributions from Vincent Roberti, a lobbyist for the Swiss company Nord Stream AG that’s pipelines are playing a central role in the ongoing energy debate arising from Russia’s Ukrainian invasion.

As it turns out? Malinowski isn’t alone.

Roberti also donated $2,700 to Andy Kim (D, NJ-03) and Mikie Sherrill (D, NJ-11) each in 2018 and $1,000 in 2019 to Josh Gottheimer (D, NJ-05).

That’s $15,000 over the past few years to New Jersey’s four most vulnerable House Democrats.

Until Joe Biden’s recent executive order, the United States was purchasing 700,000 barrels daily from Putin. It’s hard to miss the clear correlation between Democrats’ anti-energy independence policies and the special interests investing in their campaigns.

“New Jerseyans are paying an average of $4.34 today for a gallon of gas thanks to the failed and short-sighted energy policies perpetuated by Joe Biden and his Democrat allies in Congress,” said NJGOP Executive Director Tom Szymanski. “By shutting off domestic energy production at the outset of the Biden Administration, Democrats have made this country more dependent on hostile foreign powers like Vladimir Putin’s Russia for its energy. Now, we come to learn that Malinowski, Sherrill, Kim, and Gottheimer have taken thousands in campaign contributions from a Russian energy lobbyist.”

“Where is their loyalty: to their own campaign coffers, or to the millions of New Jerseyans suffering every day over the toll that inflation and rising energy costs are taking?” added Szymanski. “Representatives Malinowski, Sherrill, Kim and Gottheimer can settle that question once and for all by immediately returning the money they took from Russian energy lobbyists and apologizing to the people of New Jersey, and we demand they to do just that.”
