The NJ Monitor is reporting that two new lawsuits have been filed against the State of New Jersey, folks, both of which accuse Phil Murphy and “the woman who needs no introduction” Judith Persichilli of engendering deadly conditions in New Jersey’s nursing homes during the Covid-19 pandemic. The plaintiffs are reportedly family members of two women who passed away during the pandemic.

According to NJ Monitor, one of the complaints accuses officials of “failing to adequately distribute face masks, gloves, and other personal protective equipment in long-term care facilities in the pandemic’s early days.” At one point early in the pandemic, we know for a fact that the Murphy Administration urged facilities to FINE employees who wore masks.
The Murphy Administration’s abhorant record in relation to our state’s nursing home facilities remains one of the Covid-19 era’s most shameful chapters.
Over 200,000 U.S. nursing home staff members and residents had died – purportedly of Covid-19 – as of February 2022. New Jersey’s staggering nursing home death rate (120.1 per 1,000 residents) is second only to that of Massachusetts.
Back around Christmas, New Jersey paid $53 million to the families of 119 deceased residents of state-run veterans homes.
There is also still an ongoing federal civil rights probe.
