State Senator O’Scanlon (R-13) tried to advance S-2243 on Thursday, but the Republican plan to give four million New Jersey families $1,000 rebates was blocked by the Democrat majority.
Democrat continue to support the far more meager “ANCHOR” proposal of Governor Murphy.
This is the second time in recent history that Trenton Democrats had blocked a GOP-sponsored rebate bill; a $500 “Give It Back” rebate bill was tabled back on May 26th.

Over in the Assembly, Democrats also blocked a bill to assist disabled veterans with their property taxes; 18 Democrat co-sponsors of that GOP-sponored bill nevertheless voted to table it.
