Phil Murphy’s adopted hometown of Middletown, New Jersey is adding police officers to classrooms beginning this fall 2022.
“For the upcoming 2022-2023 school year, the district will hire Class III special law enforcement officers, or SLEOs,” NJ101.5 reported this week. “Each school in Middletown will be assigned one Class III SLEO at a rate of $35 an hour.”
The District’s move comes following multiple “mass” shootings including a Uvalde, Texas elementary school incident that resulted in the deaths of 19 young children.
Middletown Township Board Of Education President Frank Capone – a frequent critic of Murphy’s education and Covid policies – trumpeted the decision on Twitter.
“Covid wasn’t a threat to children, yet they were forced to wear a mask to protect adults,” Capone tweeted. “Now children are in danger from deranged adults across the country, but the NJEA & @GovMurphy don’t want to pay to protect children.”
