Trenton Democrats adopted a paltry $500 per child tax credit for low income New Jerseyans (it drops to $100 for those earning over $80,000 a year so yeah, basically a single free tank of gas for your trouble). They promised immediate relief.
Unfortunately, the incompetent majority caucus screwed up. In an apparent mistake, no one will see any benefit from the credit until 2024, after the off-cycle 2023 legislative elections.
Assemblyman Hal Wirths (R-24) pointed out the error on the floor but the Democrats declined to correct their mistake and pushed it through.
