Murphy’s electric car subsidy is a tone deaf boost for wealthy New Jerseyans

The price of an electric car has risen 80% since 2012, Save Jerseyans.

A few years later, the Pacific Research Institute analyzed IRS data and determined that nearly 4 of 5 electric vehicle tax credits went to households with adjusted gross income above $100,000. A mere 1% of the credits were claimed by American households earning under $50,000.

The bottom line: the wealthy can afford electric vehicles but few “working class” families can buy them. That’s one of the many reasons why Phil Murphy’s reconfigured electric vehicle subsidy program announced Monday is as ridiculous on the numbers as it is insulting the intelligence of average Middle Class Garden State taxpayer.

The revised plan is to provide up to $4,000 per electric vehicle in addition to $250 for a home electric car charger.

Americans are literally SKIPPING MEALS right now. Bidenflation is that serious although Phil and his family have no familiarity with the struggle.

Who can afford a $50,000 electric car (that’s a starter-level price) and an $800+ monthly car payment when they can’t purchase groceries?

No New Jerseyan should be forced to choose between charging an electric car and feeding their children.

Every cent of these incentives should be redirected to tangible tax relief. Phil Murphy’s limousine liberal friends don’t need your help buying a Tesla.
