Flags flying at half-staff today in honor of late N.J. Asm. Ron Dancer

Flags throughout New Jersey are flying at half-staff today in honor of former Assemblyman Ron Dancer who died over the weekend after a relatively brief hospitalization.

Governor Murphy signed Executive Order 301 on Monday which directs “all State departments,
offices, agencies, and instrumentalities” to fly the U.S. flag and N.J. flag at half-staff throughout the day on Tuesday, July 26th in honor of the late Ocean County legislator.

“[I]t is appropriate to commemorate his history of public service, his many achievements in State and local politics, and his legacy of public service, friendship, and civility,” continues Murphy’s E.O.

Dancer was only 73.

His passing has set off a four-way race for his 12th legislative district seat. The seat will initially be filled at a special election convention, and then whoever wins the seat will need to defend it this November and then again next fall (2023) when the entire legislature is on the ballot.
