Malinowski accuses journalist of being Russian agent while dodging legislative question

I think the likelihood of imminent defeat is starting to get to Tom Malinowski, Save Jerseyans.

Journalist Michael Tracey attended Congressman Malinowski’s Rahway NJ-07 rally earlier this week and, when he was within earshot of the Democrat incumbent, asked an objectively fair question:

If the legislation he co-sponsored back in July – the “Russia is a State Sponsor of Terrorism Act” – becomes law, wouldn’t that preclude a diplomatic resolution to the Ukraine war? Now for the record, I think my read of the Ukrainian conflict might be a bit different than Mr. Tracey’s but, again, it’s not an unreasonable question for an outspoken advocate of an aggressive tact towards Russia.

It’s Malinowski’s response which warrants the attention which I’m sure the legacy media won’t give it.

“Go enjoy your career for Russia Today, man,” Malinowski fired back at Tracey who was clearly caught off guard by the tenor of Malinowski’s response. Malinowski then told Tracey to get out of his way though the journalist denies blocking his egress. Malinowski never indicates what basis he has for accusing Tracey of being a Russian asset. It’s a common put-down favored by Leftists to silence critics of U.S. policy towards Ukraine; Tulsi Gabbard and Tucker Carlson are frequent recipients of the label.

“Even if you dislike me personally for whatever reason, it’s obviously newsworthy that a sitting Congressman blurted these words out of his mouth,” Tracey opined on Twitter following the encounter. “But in all likelihood, no NJ or national media wil cover it. Because they don’t object to the behavior; if anything they support it.”

Tracey’s write-up and audio of the encounter is available here.

Malinowski’s Republican opponent Tom Kean Jr. is slightly favored to defeat him in next week’s contest. Malinowski clearly knows it.
