OOPS: Assembly Dems delete tweet with wrong date for Washington’s crossing

Anyone who knows basic American history (and specifically their New Jersey-Revolutionary War history) remembers that George Washington and his intrepid band of patriot crossed the Delaware River and attacked the Hessians on Christmas night 1776, winning a decisive victory in the Battle of Trenton the next morning and rescuing the cause of independence.

Christmas. Not Christmas Eve.

But the New Jersey Assembly Democrats – peddlers of woke CRT garbage that they are – have forgotten real history and earlier today celebrated December 24th as the crossing date:

Not true.

“[O]n Christmas Day, the weather was horrible,” former speaker and accomplished historian Newt Gingrich explained in an 2019 op-ed. “Washington’s roughly 2,400 soldiers – many of whom did not have shoes – had to march through wet snow, sleet, and driving rain to the Dela ware River, where they then crossed in the dead of night. Once they started crossing the river, the weather was made worse by a Nor’easter that had hit the East Coast. Journals from Washington’s men described the storm as “a perfect hurricane.”

The embarrassing post has been deleted.

The post wouldn’t have happened if Trenton Democrats spent more time immersing themselves in real history than constantly trying to delete the real stuff.
