Another potentially rough-and-tumble GOP primary is over before it truly got underway.
On Friday morning, New Jersey Globe reported that long-time candidate for high office Steve Lonegan had ended his campaign for the LD24 GOP Senate nomination, a move which leaves incumbent Assemblyman Parker Space unopposed to succeed the retiring Steve Oroho. Lonegan lost the Morris County convention to Space last Saturday and apparently, per the Globe report, made his decision the following day.
Lafayette Board President Josh Aikens and Warren County Commissioner Jason Sarnoski are still in the hunt for the LD24 Assembly nomination against Space’s running mates, Chester Mayor Mike Inganamort and Sussex Commissioner Dawn Fantasia. Save Jersey confirmed Aikens’s intention to continue campaigning on Friday morning shortly after news of Lonegan’s departure from the race borke.
