Does the government have a role in protecting minors if the child’s parents want to cut off their son’s penis?
Or remove their daughter’s breasts?
All in the name of “gender-affirming” care?
No, says Chris Christie (a/k/a Fatty McThunderbiscuits).
“I don’t think that the government should ever be stepping in to the place of the parents in helping to move their children through a process where those children are confused or concerned about their gender,” Christie said during CNN’s “State if the Union” Sunday program.
An increasing number of states are taking steps to regulate puberty blockers and other sex change interventions for minors, but the former Republican governor of New Jersey disagrees with the movement.
“What I would like to make sure each state does is require that parents are involved in these decisions,” Christie added. “The fact is that folks who are under the age of 18 should have parental support, and guidance, and love as they make all the key decisions of their life, and this should not be one that excluded by the government in any way.”
While his radical views are attracting renewed attention in the heat of a presidential campaign, Christie’s support for the LGBTQ+- whatever is agenda isn’t new. Before leaving office in New Jersey, Christie enacted “pro-trans” legislation to permit school bathrooms and locker rooms among other radical policies which are far-out-of-step with Republican and lean GOP voters.
