Christie says ‘no’ to a race which he couldn’t win

Ominous battleground polling isn’t dissuading Chris Christie from his presidential ambitions, but in the off chance you were wondering, he’s not interested in joining the scrum for Bob Menendez’s seat.

“No, I have no interest in being in the United States Senate,” Christie told Meet the Press on Sunday, adding that he could’ve appointed himself in 2013 after Frank Lautenberg died but declined to do so.

Of course, it’s not really Christie’s decision. It’s a non-starter He would lose by 20+ points if he tried to run for U.S. Senate in his home state.

He left office as the least popular chief executive in New Jersey history. In 2021, a poll found that only 19% of New Jerseyans believed their ex-governor would make a good president. His popularity among Republicans inside and outside of the Garden State remains in the basement.

Is it really news when a man says ‘no’ to a race which he couldn’t win?

Perhaps if the candidate in question is a Trump-basher who says what the Media wants him to say on air.
