Did Murphy spend $100k in taxpayer funds to help launch his wife’s Senate campaign?

You can’t put anything past these people, Save Jerseyans. They’re shameless.

Some quick background: “Nurture NJ” is Queen Consort Tammy Murphy’s First Lady pet project. The state-backed initiative’s purported goal is to promote maternal and infant health which is ironic since the Murphy Administration goes out of its way to support and fund the state’s most-radical-in-America pro-abortion policies. Babies only matter when someone wants them, right? Ghoulish.

In any event, the state decided to launch a $100,000 radio campaign for Nurture NJ a mere 48 hours after Tammy announced her campaign to replace Bob Menendez as Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate in 2024. It’s a severe escalation beyond what we’ve seen before from the Murphy in the arena of misuse of public funds (which is saying something given how they blew Covid-19 funds on VIP vehicles and $500,000 on redecorating their offices). And oh yeah: the $12,000 for Taylor Swift and other big ticket entertainment.

The timing of the ad campaign is pretty damning. GOP candidate Christine Serrano Glassner, the incumbent mayor of Mendham, is demanding an ethics investigation into what clearly appear to be an attempt to soft launch Tammy Murphy’s congressional ambitions with tax dollars.

“There is no legitimate reason for Nurture NJ to continue using the governor’s wife as a spokesperson now that she’s officially declared herself as a candidate,” Serrano Glassner said in a statement. “Surely, our multi-millionaire governor and his wife can afford to finance their own campaign ads rather than using our tax dollars to boost her public profile.”

Serrano Glassner wants the Office of the State Comptroller’s Investigations Division to probe possible campaign finance violations since the Murphy Administration only decided to spike the ads after Tammy’s candidacy was already announced.

“This is just another example of the ‘Murphy Monarchy’ at work,” Serrano Glassner added. “The governor and his wife, ‘Bougie Tammy,’ clearly have no problem using public resources for personal benefit as Gov. Murphy leverages his power and influence to advance his wife’s political ambitions.”

But it isn’t just Republicans questioning this affair.

NY Times senior editor Tracey Tully called the story “one of rare circumstances when the word unprecedented is warranted.”

“Even if ads were running b4 indictment, it raises questions b/c there was a clear effort afoot even then to position First Lady for something more,” Tully opined on X.

We’ll see if any New Jersey Democrats have the balls to weigh in here and prove they’re not hypocrites. Remember when Frank Pallone accused Chris Christie of using federal funds for self-promoting opioid ads? As ever, I won’t hold my breath…
