It never ends, Save Jerseyans.
Apparently there’s a thing called “Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action” in February, and the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) is inviting Garden State “schools, teachers, students, parents, unions, and community supporters and organizations” to join an online “prep” rally on January 25th.
“We realize ideas may be at various stages of the planning process,” the web invite explains. “There are many ways to participate in the Week of Action. You can use the student creative challenge as a lesson, show a film, or host a sip n’ paint. You can organize a postcard campaign, book drive, or double dutch party. Here is our updated starter kit, now guide, What We Do & How We Done It: A Guide for BLM at School. It has ideas and resources to support you in your planning process. (bit.ly/wwdhwdi).”
Keep in mind: New Jersey kids are still grappling with historic learning loss from the Covid-19 shutdowns.
If your child comes home with some funky ideas or alarming stories next month? It might’ve gotten cooked up on a Thursday Zoom call with the NJEA:
