Fourth time’s the charm?
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced ANOTHER round of charges for Bob Menendez on Tuesday. This is the fourth (!) indictment for New Jersey’s senior senator.
Menendez is reportedly facing no less than a dozen *new* counts related to an alleged bribery scheme involving both the governments of Egypt and Qatar. The new charges include, but are not limited to obstruction of justice and conspiracy.
This latest development comes mere days after one of Menendez’s co-defendants accepted a plea and is believed to be cooperating with federal authorities, though it wasn’t readily apparent whether there was a direct link between the small mountain of new charges and the state’s first guilty plea in this investigation…
