Heads up, Save Jerseyans:
That ulta-controversial bill (S2930) which critics say will effectively “gut” the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) is back on the legislature’s docket this Thursday, May 9th before the Senate Budget and Appropriations at 10:00 AM.
Floor votes in the Senate and Assembly respectively are expected on May 13th.
Among other provisions, the slightly-reworked bill eliminates the “fee shift” for victorious plaintiffs and requires that they prove bad faith to obtain an award of attorney fees, changes which opponents of the new legislation say would declaw OPRA.
