Over 15k expected for Trump’s weekend Wildwood rally

In what be the largest political rally in state history, former President Donald Trump is expected to address over 15,000 supporters – possibly far more according to our sources close to the planning of the event – on the beach in Wildwood this Mother’s Day Weekend.

“Doors” (in this case, the beach checkpoints near 3601 Boardwalk) for the Saturday May 11th rally open at Noon for the ticketed event, but the presumptive GOP nominee isn’t expected to take the stage until 5:00 P.M. EST. Save Jersey will provide live coverage here at the website and via its social media channels.

“It is an incredible honor to be the Republican County Chairman in the Host County for President Trump’s visit to Wildwood,” said Mike Donohue, chairman of the Cape May GOP and chairman of the steering committee established to prepare for Ttrump’s visit. “We have put together a CapeGOP steering committee to help guide the Cape May Regular Republican Organization’s efforts in making President Trump’s visit to our County a great experience, not only for the President, but for all of the incredible enthusiastic Cape May County Republicans.”

But it won’t just be Cape May Republicans on hand for the historic event. Mother’s Day Weekend is the traditional “soft opening” at the Jersey Shore for the summer season, and Trump fans from across the region are expected to pour into Cape May County to partake in the rally directly or, if they couldn’t obtain hotly-sought after tickets, attend a watch party at a local watering hole. For example, Philly’s 1210 WPHT is hosting a live radio event from Noon to 7 P.M. at Mulligan’s Bar & Grill in Wildwood.

The city itself is preparing for the influx and has reportedly turned its parking meters on a weekly earlier than normal.

Trump last visited Wildwood for a rally in January 2020 shortly after Congressman Jeff Van Drew – who represents Cape May County in Congress – switched parties. Van Drew now serves as Trump’s New Jersey campaign chairman.
