It’s not the least bit surprising that Christine Todd Whitman endorsed Kamala Harris, Save Jerseyans. The liberal ex-governor of New Jersey, a frequent critic of the 45th President of the United States, openly voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020. She wasn’t much of a Republicans when she actually was one, and at present, she’s head of the Forward Party alongside Andrew Yang.
None of that history stopped the ex-EPA head from signing onto a “Republicans for Harris” group.
Ex-state Senator Ed “The Trucker” Durr – a declared candidate for governor in 2025 – think it’s time for Whitman to quit masquerading as something she’s not.
“It appears Christie Whitman got her wish, a team of raging liberals to face off against Donald Trump,” Durr said in a statement. “Kamala Harris’ choice of Tim Walz as a running mate shows her commitment to the radical left-wing of what’s left of the Democrat Party. Walz is the guy who let Minneapolis burn almost to the ground and joined his liberal allies in ramming a liberal agenda through the statehouse in Minnesota. Left-wing all the way on abortion, trans policy, education, giving felons the right to vote, even before they complete their probation or parole, and he even gave illegal aliens state-funded healthcare benefits.”
“If Christie Whitman has an ounce of Republicanism left in her body she will rescind her endorsement of Kamala Harris,” Durr continued. “Considering her membership in the Forward Party, Whitman should immediately stop claiming to be a ‘Republican for Harris.’ I would hope my fellow Republicans, especially those who want to lead our party, join me in reminding voters that Whitman is not a Republican.”
Durr is one of four announced Republicans for next year’s race to succeed Phil Murphy who is term limited. A driver for a furniture store chain, the South Jerseyans upset then-Senate President Steve Sweeney in 2021 and earned 15 minutes of fame for having done so on a shoe-string budget but was vanquished in 2023 amid an NJGOP electoral collapse.
2021 nominee Jack Ciattarelli and radio host Bill Spadea have both also endorsed Donald Trump (though they continue to war over who’s less genuine in their support). State Senator Jon Bramnick is a Never Trumper and hasn’t committed to a candidate.
