To put it bluntly? It’s been a disastrous Election Day in Burlington County, New Jersey regardless of how you voted.
All afternoon and early evening, long lines and Disney World-sized waits plagued voters in Medford, Moorestown, Mt. Holly, Cinnaminson and Evesham. The longest I’ve heard as of now? Three hours.
“I’ve been in Marlton all my life. Four elections being on the ballot as Mayor; never and I mean Never seen or heard of lines like this today,” former Evesham Mayor Randy Brown told me.
“Four voting machines in my entire polling place,” another Marlton voter told me, noting there used to be two for every precinct.
Burlington County residents were urged to remain in line past the traditional 8 o’clock poll closing in a county which, ironically, is reliably blue (meaning that Democrats have screwed themselves by reportedly providing too few machines at many locations).
A former legislator reported that the Superior Court had decided to extend the voting deadline to 9:00 p.m.
“Two-plus hour long wait times reported throughout most Burlington County polling locations. My wife and I waited two and half hours to cast our vote,” opined former Assemblyman Brendan Umba (R-Medford). “This is a complete disgrace. Burlington County officials, made up entirely of Democrats, need to be held responsible or else people will be dissuaded from voting in future elections. This is voter suppression through absolute incompetence. The people of Burlington County deserve better.”
