MAGA podcaster Mike Crispi announced on Thursday that he’s forming an exploratory committee for the 2024 GOP gubernatorial primary.
“Conservative leaders need to ANSWER the simple and sensible questions I am asking if they want to TRULY drain the NJ Swamp,” Crispi explained on X.
Crispi previously ran and lost a 2022 primary in NJ-04 against incumbent Chris Smith. His chief advisor was (and still is) legendary Republican operative Roger Stone.
His likely entry into the primary could complicate the question of whether – or who – Trump will support in the GOP’s internal nominating contest. Crispi received a prime speaking slot and a direct shoutout from Trump at last May’s Wildwood rally.
The Republican Primary field is increasingly crowded; if he formally jumps in, Crispi will join 2021 nominee Jack Ciattarelli, NJ 101.5 host Bill Spadea, Ed “The Trucker” Durr and state Senator Jon Bramnick in the race for the GOP nomination.
It’s also possible that a non or less MAGA candidate could benefit from a potential split along the more Trump-y options.
