Op-Ed: What illegal immigration does to children is truly criminal

Cross-Posted from DaleGlading.com

It is so purposely dishonest and deceptive that I want to scream!

Two nights ago, I made the mistake of watching the CBS Evening News. Actually, it’s not a bad thing to occasionally see what propaganda the liberal media is pushing so you know how to counter it. However, in this case, I was simply watching the third round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open and when the coverage was over, CBS switched to the Evening News before I could grab the remote.

Guess what the leading story was? Instead of trumpeting the wild success of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration – starting with convicted criminals – CBS chose to focus on the number of migrant children who may be separated from a deported parent or possibly face deportation themselves.

Nothing pulls at your heartstrings like a crying child, and CBS went out of its way to show as many of them as possible for the singular purpose of making its audience feel guilty. By doing so, the Progressive anchors, copywriters, and network executives hope that Americans will insist that all illegal immigrants be allowed to stay in the U.S. and continue to enjoy free social services at taxpayers’ expense.

Who cares if they have broken our laws by entering the U.S. illegally and so what if a sizeable number of them have proceeded to commit secondary crimes such as shoplifting, burglary, drug dealing, and the rape or murder of our women and children?

Forget about those crimes, CBS would tell you, just concentrate on the heartbroken children who are the innocent victims of mass deportation.

But here’s the rub…

Today, there are approximately 1.9 million American men, women, and teenagers incarcerated in state and local jails; or federal, territorial, and military prisons. Of the adult offenders, more than half of them are the parents of at least one child. In fact, the latest estimate is that there are more than 2.7 million minor children who have an incarcerated parent.

That’s extremely sad, especially when you consider that the children of prisoners are 7-10 times more likely to be incarcerated themselves someday than the children of law-abiding Americans. But breaking the law has consequences and you don’t hear many rational people pushing to throw open the prison doors and release all 1.9 million inmates so they can be reunited with their children.

Illegally entering our country is a C-R-I-M-E and by definition, that means that illegal immigrants are criminals. Yes, many of them came to America to make a better life for themselves and their families. However, there are lots of ways to enter the U.S. legally and there are also many ways to improve your living conditions by remaining in your country of origin.

No other country in the world allows people to freely cross its borders illegally. On the contrary, try doing so in a Muslim or Marxist nation and chances are you will be incarcerated for many years… or put to death.

My friends, as difficult as it may be, we have to stop focusing on the tragic effects of deportation on the children of illegal immigrants (who, quite frankly, are being very well taken care of by border agents and social services) and start concentrating on the guilty parties who are causing these unnecessary hardships. Don’t let your emotions get the best of you and don’t allow CBS or the rest of the mainstream media to shape the narrative to fit their Progressive agenda.

The sad truth of the matter is that every time a crime is committed, there are innocent victims. That goes for rapists, arsonists, tax cheats, wife beaters, pedophiles, and murderers. And yes, for illegal immigrants, too.

The best way to prevent children from being separated from their parents is to put an end to illegal immigration and every other type of criminal behavior. The former crime can be virtually eliminated by building an impenetrable wall along our southern border, tightening security at our ports and northern border, and cracking down on businesses that knowingly hire cheap/illegal labor. My guess is it will require a spiritual revival along the lines of a Third Great Awakening to address the other kinds of crime that are damaging our families and destroying our inner cities.

So, think of it this way. Every new mile of border wall may save an immigrant child a harrowing emotional experience and a lifetime of heartbreak. And every new church that is built and every new fatherhood program that is established may do the same for native-born American children.
