Following news that U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman’s Office is requiring the New Jersey Select Committee on Investigation (a.k.a. “the SCI”) to cancel scheduled testimony of Port Authority of New York/New Jersey Executive Director Patrick Foye, Save Jerseyans, Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean, Jr. is giving voice to the obvious yet overlooked truth of the matter:
“The U.S. Attorney’s notice should serve as a conclusion to this legislative committee’s costly, excessively partisan ‘inquiry.’ At last, it is time for the select committee to accomplish something for the public good and turn its full attention to passing bipartisan legislation to reform this long-troubled Port Authority.”
Foye had been scheduled to testify June 3. There’s no word yet as to whether he will (or can) be rescheduled.
Is enough finally enough? Asm. Michael Patrick Carroll, a member of the SCI, has been saying the same thing as Sen. Kean for months.
At best, John Wisniewski’s committee is an expensive waste time lacking any legitimate interest in true reform. At worst, it’s a politically-motivated witch hunt that, as this latest news verifies, is actively interfering with a federal investigation. Something that your Blogger-in-Chief has been saying for months!
End it.
