Ahead of AC Event, Bramnick Takes His Show on the Road

BramnickMost statewide Republican campaigns tend to kick-off in a GOP stronghold.

Jon Bramnick? The Assembly Minority Leader (and potential gubernatorial candidate) is kick-starting his 2015 quest for legislative gains in a region of our state where Republicanism isn’t prospering as of late. At least not up the ballot.

The Bergen GOP’s woes are a matter of public record for Save Jersey readers after years of infighting culminated in Kathe Donovan’s defeat last November. Hudson County? Well, for starters, a Republican presidential candidate hasn’t carried the county since 1972.

But that’s exactly where Bramnick is going. On January 17th, he’s hosting a 8:00 a.m. breakfast presser in Hackensack with Republican Assembly members and Bergen County GOP Chairman Bob Yudin. Next up? A tour of Hispanic businesses led by Hudson County GOP Chairman Jose Arango in West New York followed by a closed luncheon with Jersey City business leaders.

Accompanying Bramnick: Assembly Republican Whip Scott Rumana, Deputy Leader Anthony Bucco, Assemblywomen Holly Schepisi and Nancy Munoz, and Assemblymen David Russo, Robert Auth and Jack Ciattarelli. Schepisi and Ciattarelli are rumored to be possible gubernatorial contenders in their own right.

The campaign kick-off tour will culminate further down the Garden State Parkway two weeks later on February 2nd at a day-long mini-convention held at the Borgata in Atlantic City.

Perhaps ending up in a Democrat city that recently elected a Republican mayor is as good a way as any to illustrate what’s possible?
