Only 22% of registered New Jersey voters participated in this November’s legislative elections, Save Jerseyans, according to newly released state data.
That’s the lowest level of voter participation since… 1924.
That breaks the previous record low of 25% hit during the October 2013 special election between Cory Booker and Steven Lonegan. In 2011, when the Assembly and the Senate where on the ballot but there wasn’t a gubernatorial contest, the turnout reached 27%.
In 1999, the last time only the Assembly seats were up, 31% turned out to the polls.
This is what happens when voters feel like they don’t have a real choice...
______
Of course people feel they don’t have a real choice – the Democrars completely gerrymandered the districts so the Legislative elections are basically meaningless.
We need term limits to restore the vote to the people and we need a constitutional amendment that allow PRIVATE citizens to bypass the legislature in order to get ballot measures on the ballots. Right now our Constitution ONLY allows the legislature to put forth ballot measures.
We do SO have choices … A) The train going 100 mph toward the “Bridge Out,” by voting for Republicans, or B) The train going 1000 mph toward the “Bridge Out,” by voting for Democrats.
WELL ALL OF U DUMMY SHEEP, DESERVE EXACTLY WHAT U GET.NOTHING.THE 22% DUMMIES THAT VOTED FOR THESE CREEPS TERM AFTER TERM. ARE THE BIG PROBLEM. _BECA– USE THE REST OF US DON’T GIVE A FLYING CRAP ANYMORE. AS U CAN SEE. NOBODY SHOWED UP TO VOTE,EXCEPT THE REAL SHEEP THAT WERE LEFT.
Not shocking one bit.
As long as corporate party bosses keeping shoving their candidates down our throats it is useless.
Low turnout was very costly in LD11!
Clean the rolls of everyone who hasn’t voted in 7 years (c.20%). Follow one-man-one-vote by apportioning districts by voters (we do it for county committee). Create 80 assembly districts with only on representative. Structure ballots that candidates oppose each other as opposed to slates.
And, while you’re busy scribbling your wish list, consider wishing in one hand and shitting in the other. Let us know which hand gets filled first.
