For years, Save Jerseyans, your Blogger-in-Chief has been yearning for the day Republican candidates to go digital and develop a strong social media presence almost a much as for the Eagles to win a Super Bowl in my lifetime.
While the Lombardi Trophy may not be coming Philadelphia anytime soon, we may be witnessing a digital revolution for Republicans in the Boardwalk Empire.
A quick refresher: I already told you how Hamilton Township Deputy Mayor Amy Gatto is seeking the Republican nomination for Freeholder this year after incumbent Freeholder Will Pauls decided not to seek re-election in order focus his efforts on organizing Atlantic County’s opposition to a long-anticipated referendum this fall to expand casino gaming outside of Atlantic City.
She’s moving quick. Just 24 hours after launching her campaign Facebook page, Gatto had already received more “Likes” than Atlantic County Democrats in the six years since they launched their county party’s page. 600-ish to 538 at my last check as of this writing.
The early digital momentum, not to mention her conservative record, make it clear that Gatto’s message of bringing a new generation of leadership, experience and energy to the Atlantic County Freeholder Board is already beginning to resonate. That’s good news for GOP’ers in all 21 counties.
