On Monday night, a local West Virginia NBC affiliate was the first to report that three victims were shot dead by a suspect “identified as Erick Shute, a 32 year old male. The shooter was observed to be driving a white in color Chevrolet Silverado with what appeared to have a dump bed on the back. He is described as a medium build with medium length black hair, wearing all black.“
The suspect is originally from Pennsville, New Jersey and, according to unconfirmed social media reports and the rational inference drawn from the Pennsville Police Facebook page’s alert (posted above), the manhunt currently extends from West Virginia into South Jersey.
There is no indication at this hour that the suspect’s exact whereabouts are known to authorities.
According to Save Jersey contributor Alyssa LaFage, the suspect took to Facebook after the shooting to claim that his alleged acts were committed out of self defense:
