NEW YORK, NY — It’s a strange year for Democrats running in “red” districts.
Josh Welle, the nominee in NJ-4 seeking to unseat long-time House veteran Chris Smith, says he’s running a “Central Jersey” campaign, the implication being that he’s not extreme like Nancy Pelosi. Yet during last week’s visit to Neil Cavuto’s national Fox Business program, Welle stammered a bit while conceding he would support repealing the GOP tax cuts which helped a lot more people than it hurt in the Central Jersey/Shore district.
Welle isn’t alone, of course. Democrat Andy Kim in neighboring NJ-03 has echoed similar sentiments in his own quest to unseat Tom MacArthur.
