New Jersey Democrats’ $1 billion bailout of the offshore wind industry may prove to haunt several incumbents this November. In fact, ads are already dropping raising the issue.
Last week, the Engineers Labor Employer Cooperative (ELEC825) dropped 30-second spots in LD4, LD6, LD16, LD36, and LD38 (see below). Three of the five are considered ripe for Republican gains in the upcoming legislative general elections.
“That’s money taken from your pocket and sent overseas,” the ad explains while citing various alternative possible investments.
It’s believed the initial Ocean Wind 1 bailout could cost ratepayers $200 a piece while future subsidies of various kinds could quickly increase the bill by a factor of 10 or more…
