Boardwalk Empire Continues the NJ-TV Love Affair

For better or for worse, Save Jerseyans, our great state is often the location, if not the subject, of quite a few television shows. Whether we like it or not, these shows convey different perceptions of New Jersey that the rest of the country picks up on. Joining shows such as Jersey Shore, Jerseylicious, The Real Housewives of New Jersey, House, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and The Sopranos, HBO’s new Boardwalk Empire depicts Atlantic City in 1920 at the start of prohibition and apex of the women’s suffrage movement. The show centers on the County Treasurer, Enoch “Nucky” Thompson (Steve Buscemi), who is based on real life corrupt political boss of the era, Enoch L. Johnson. The first episode was directed by Martin Scorsese, and the show is produced by Terence Winter, the screenwriter from The Sopranos.

Check out the trailer below. Even though the show centers around corrupt politicians and party bosses in NJ, I’d still rather America be watching this than Jersey Shore
