Webber Goes on Offense Against Adler

Assemblyman and NJGOP Chairman Jay Webber kept the DeStefano story in the headlines today with news that he has filed an FEC complaint against the Adler and DeStefano campaigns. The charge? That the two campaigns failed to disclose in-kind contributions made by Adler to DeStefano when the Adler campaign loaned volunteers and the use of Camden County Democrat Machine Cog, Steve Ayscue to DeStefano to ensure that he would get certified for the ballot. Webber even suggest the possibility that Adler may have made in-kind contributions in excess of the federal limits.

Aside from being the mastermind of what is turning out to be the biggest political screw up in NJ-3 history, Steve Ayscue is reportedly in charge of Peter DeStefano’s communication with the press. Considering how much coverage DeStefano gets outside of this scandal, clearly Ayscue is failing at that as well.

Adler is still being silent on the issue, reportedly even ducking the New York Times questions about DeStefano after the Adler-Runyan debate in Cherry Hill this past Monday night. Steve Ayscue is also no where to be found. One would think that the campaign would want to come out in front of this issue and move on, but it seems that this October surprise will be one that keeps on giving.

More to come…I’m sure of it.
