Dec. 23: A Festivus for the Rest of Us

As a real holiday approaches in two days, we should not forget to pay tribute to America’s most popular faux-holiday. That’s right, tonight being December 23rd (also known as Christmas Eve Eve), there is an off chance that someone, somewhere, will actually be celebrating Festivus, a strange holiday created by Mr. Costanza of Seinfeld. Since no other holidays are actually happening at or near the same time as Christmas this year, I can only imagine that when the politically correct crowd says “Happy Holidays” they are referring to Festivus.

For those of you who are not familiar with the holiday, it consists of three important traditions:

  1. The aluminum Festivus Pole (to replace the Christmas Tree)
  2. The Airing of Grievances
  3. The Feats of Strength

Watch the video below to get a real sense of what Festivus is all about. Happy Festivus everyone!
