New poll numbers for Chris Christie

FDU has some new poll numbers out and they are….

Actually pretty good (53% approve, 36% disapprove) – Christie still has some opposition (no surprise in public employee households) but the numbers are pretty positive. People still think NJ is on the wrong track (48%) but the number of people who think NJ is going in the right direction is a close 44%. However the real big point that NJ voters are saying? Hold the line on spending! 62% agree that the state should hold the line on spending even if programs are cut. That’s good news for conservatism and Chris Christie. 31% of Dems think we should raise taxes, so no real surprise there.

Politico’s Ben Smith and Maggie Haberman tried to equate Gov. Christie’s ratings and Mayor Bloomberg following the snow storm and its obvious that NJ voters decided that Christie’s role wasn’t to oversee direct snow removal like Bloomberg’s. Put simply – the Mayor of NYC and Governor of NJ have two incredibly different roles.
