Dems to Grandstand Without Solutions All Summer Long

Top Democrats in the Assembly (by title, not by intelligence) have announced that throughout the rest o the summer they will be holding hearings to determine the “damage wrought” by Governor Christie’s line item veto to the Democrats bloated and fiscally unsound budget. They are going to take time out of the limited legislative schedule that you pay for to drone on and on about money that never existed not making it into programs we could not afford, rather than holding hearings on how we can move forward as a state and compete for new investment and jobs. The only word that comes to mind is ‘typical.’

Our focus must be on how Gov. Christie’s cuts are further hurting our middle-class and poor, children, senior citizens and most vulnerable residents

Their strategy is simple, and goes a long with what the democrats have been doing for the last few weeks. Just whine about everything and point fingers. What they fail to realize is that the reason our middle-class and most vulnerable are suffering is not because of any budget cut. Its because of the crushing taxes and other backwards policies that have caused such a vast working poor class to exist in the first place! Democrats have been pushing jobs and prosperity out of this state for years and trying to cover the effects by holding people up with state money. We can’t afford to keep making mistakes and treating the symptoms. It is time to treat the ailment, which is exactly what the Governor’s budget from February sought to do.

The statement made by the Dems went on to spew more lies,

It’s hard to believe this governor would continue to protect tax breaks for millionaires yet cut property tax relief

The last time I checked, not creating a new tax on millionaires is not remotely the same thing as giving anyone a tax break, and any funding that the Democrats “restored” for property tax relief was money they had no basis for allocating. It simply did not exist.

This is going to be a long, long summer indeed.

  1. APP Editorial…shows Gov. Chunky just can't be trusted…..

"The Senate president bucked his own party and his union constituents to work out the pension and benefits overhaul last week with Christie. No sooner is the deal done, though, and the governor starts cutting programs for the poor and vulnerable. Because for Christie “shared sacrifice” means that he spreads the pain among the people least able to absorb the blows.

But Sweeney is living in a dream world if he thinks Republicans are going to help him with today’s veto override votes. Not going to happen.

While Sweeney’s anger is understandable, it certainly shouldn’t have come as a surprise.

Sweeney should heed the lesson of Aesop’s fable about the scorpion and the frog.

A scorpion asks a frog to carry him across a river on his back. The frog asks, “How do I know you won’t sting me?” The scorpion says, “Because if I do, I will die too.”

In midstream, the scorpion stings the frog, dooming them both. The frog, sinking, asks, “Why?”

The scorpion says, “It’s my nature …”
