Obama Gets “Negative Outlook” from New Jersey Voters

President Obama’s policies helped destroy American credit, Save Jerseyans. So much so that we now have a “negative outlook” from S&P.

New Jerseyans have responded in kind by assigning a negative outlook to Obama; we found out earlier today that his approval rating among registered Garden State voters is down 8 points since the beginning of the summer according to a new Monmouth University poll. He’s hovering at a positive but weak 52%. Even more revealing? Only 41% approve of his performance throughout the debt ceiling crisis whereas a narrow plurality of 42% disapprove. He’s below 44% among voters nationally.

Based on these latest findings, and considering the large voter registration advantage enjoyed by Democrats in New Jersey, I suspect his approval among likely New Jersey voters has fallen below the crucial 50% mark. That’s big news, and it’s a far cry from the almost 15-point landslide Obama garnered in New Jersey back in 2008.

Does this mean New Jersey could be in play for Republican in 2012? Way too soon to tell! We have come a long way by electing a Republican governor in 2009 and picking up a house seat in 2010, but a Republican hasn’t won electors here since 1988.

What this does absolutely tell us? President Obama is going to have a really hard time holding ground in must-win battleground states like PA, IN, NC and OH if he can barely keep his head above water over here in “Blue” Jersey…
