REPORT: Trenton Shrinks Under Christie’s Leadership

Good news over the weekend: New Jersey state government is SHRINKING for the first time in decades.

All in all, 76,956 state employees were employed by three branches of state government as of December 31, 2010. That’s the lowest level of state employment since Jim McGreevey took office in 2002 – an almost 4% drop. And New Jersey isn’t alone in trimming its sails. Republican governors are slashing government around the country; for example, newly elected Governor Kasich of Ohio has already reduced his state’s payroll by 5%.

There’s clearly plenty more to do, Save Jerseyans. That said, we’re definitely off to a good start after Governor Christie’s first full year in office.

The bottom line is 3,000 more potential “Occupy New Jersey” protesters but millions more in saved tax dollars.

I’ll take it!
