Guadagno Does South Jersey Swing for GOTV

Yesterday was a very long day for Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno. She braved the territory mostly uncharted to those in Trenton. Thats right, Save Jerseyans, Kim spent the day in South Jersey.

In all seriousness, the L.G. was on a big campaign swing through the south to get out the vote. The big push was obviously in DeWeese-Polistina land, LD1 and LD2. But on her way back to Trenton, Guadagno made stops in Gloucester County, pushing for the Freeholders there who stand ready to take control of Steve Sweeney’s former 2nd job, and then to my hometown of Voorhees, on of the largest in Camden County, to knock doors with local candidates in what could be a staunchly Democrat town going completely Republican (for control mind you) for the second year in a row. Finally she mad her way to Burlington County to visit Burlington County HQ and hopefully boost the get out the vote effort for the GOP candidates in LD7 and LD8.

In Voorhees, Guadagno gave a great speech about the importance of party building, even in often forgotten places like Camden County where many just assume we cannot win. However, for the Lt. Governor to come down and actually spend time knocking doors for a local race, that should tell you all you need to know about how things are coming a long down here. The Machine is losing its grip. They are scrambling, and it shows.

The L.G.’s message in all of her stops was simple. It is very important that people get out and vote this Tuesday. She could not be more right. This election will determine the extent to which the Governor’s reform agenda is implemented over the next few years. Think about it. If we had even one house in the state legislature controlled by the GOP today, we could have possibly had a hard cap on property taxes amended into the New Jersey State Constitution, rather than a soft cap with exemptions codified only in statue. We also would be saving even more money in the state pension system with stronger reforms, and stronger arbitration of public contracts.

Next up on the block is tenure reform, Supreme Court nominees, and other education focused items that will have a direct effect on property taxes. Sure, either way the reforms should pass and will bring taxes down, but how much? The more Republican votes in the legislature, the better the situation will be for you, the taxpayer, in the long run.

Think about that
