Earlier today at the White House, President Obama awarded the President Medal of Freedom to 60’s icon Bob Dylan.
One particular O quote from the ceremony tickled my funny bone, Save Jerseyans:
I remember in college listening to Bob Dylan and my world opening up, because he captured something about this country that was so vital.”
It’s funny, of course, because it reminded me of another Obama quote, this one from Dreams of My Father describing his college days:
I had learned not to care. I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though…”
He looked for “vital” lessons about his country in Dylan tracks and dime bags instead of a civics book or the Federalist Papers. The rest, as they say, is history.
And it reminds your Blogger-in-Chief of the lyrics to one of my favorite Dylan songs:

A quick aside? When Obama was puffing the magic dragon at Columbia, Mitt Romney was saving companies (and thousands of American jobs) as CEO of Bain Capital. Is it even a question which man should be running the country? Looking forward to a Mormon Wind this November!
Bob Dylan was and is a icon he deserved to receive The Presidential Metal of Freedom. I so love how Conservatives are upset about it. During High School, College or during the ages of say 19 through maybe 30 how did not put on Pink Floyd, The Doors or even Dylan did sot smoke a bone or maybe even a little blow ?
