Why Can’t We Get This Guy in OUR State Legislature?

In a scene reminiscent of Jimmy Stewart’s filibuster in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Save Jerseyans, state Representative Mike Bost (R-IL) positively lost it in open session on Tuesday afternoon. He was angry because House Speaker Michael Madigan (D), who presides over the 64 -54 Democrat dominated chamber, pulled “a Pelosi” on the membership; in other words, he introduced a bill moments before demanding that it be voted on!

Of course this was only the straw that broke Rep. Bost’s back. Illinois’s all-Democrat government is “Corsliming” its population, pursuing massive tax hikes that have driven scores of Illinois businesses into neighboring states. Sound familiar?

It’s enough to boil anyone’s blood. “These damn bills that come out here all the damn time, come out here at the last second!” an exasperated, paper-tossing Bost exclaimed to a clearly-uncomfortable audience. “I’ve got to figure out how to vote for my people!”

We could’ve done without the paper throwing.

All the same, it’d be nice to see a little fire out of New Jersey’s Republican legislators from time to time. The next time Lou Greenwald proposes a tax hike, or Nick Scutari refuses to give a fair hearing to a high court nominee, SOMEONE on my side of the aisle should give the people of New Jersey something to watch on YouTube. Extremism in defense of liberty may be a vice after all, but a little theater in pursuit of economic freedom can prove extraordinarily effective!

And don’t tell me Illinois and New Jersey are too far gone, skeptics! Lost causes are the only ones worth fighting for…
