An Introduction: Our New Contributor Kristen Luciani

Greetings, Save Jerseyans!

Allow me to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.  My name is Kristen Luciani, and I am a fellow conservative who recently became acquainted with your very own founder, Matt Rooney.  Matt and I met at a Republican Club meeting several weeks ago and we spent some time discussing the art of blogging.  I told him about the parenting site I host called “Me and My Three” (www.meandmythree.com) and he thought that as a mom, I might be interested in sharing my perspective on the impact of politics on families.

To be quite honest, the invitation to contribute to “Save Jersey” both excited and terrified me.  On one hand, I was thrilled to have the chance to discuss my thoughts on issues that are prevalent in our daily lives with like-minded people.  However, it made me nervous in the sense that I never touch upon politics or really anything too controversial in my other writings, which are primarily focused on eliciting humor from my readers.  This was going to be my first foray into the political arena, so to speak, and it is a little daunting to me.

Now that I have provided you with this insight, here is a little more about me personally.

I am married with three children, aged 7, 3 and 18 months.  My husband and I have been married for almost 12 years, and we live in Monroe Township.  I work full-time in the field of Information Technology even though my true passions are writing and fashion.  I have an entrepreneurial spirit, evidenced by various business ventures I have taken on in the past several years, including a technology and business process management consulting company and a handbag design company.

But my biggest and most important focus is on my family.  I work very hard to make sure that my children are happy, safe, and well-adjusted.  As a mother, I support those leaders who embrace the same freedoms and ideals that I want to instill in my children.  I am inspired by leadership that encourages free thinking, creativity, and innovation because that is the foundation upon which our great country is built and they are the building blocks for attaining success in any given field.

I want to teach my kids to take advantage of every opportunity available to them, and to not just sit back and wait for things to be handed to them.  I will try not to encourage any sense of entitlement.  And I will constantly drive them to work as hard as they can to attain opportunities for growth, development and enrichment.  I want them to be the masters of their own destinies.  And I want a government that upholds these values.

So, even though I am a little gun shy, I am going to share my opinions with you, Save Jerseyans.  You can agree or disagree, speak out against me, or laugh at what I have to say.  And if it is the latter, I am just hopeful you will be laughing WITH me and not AT me.

  3. If you haven't purchased shoes in the recent past it would be a good idea to measure your feet before buying basketball shoes. The average child will outgrow their shoes quickly. Yet your shoe size can change even as an adult, when you may assume you've finished growing. Any store that sells basketball shoes will be able to offer exact measurements of your feet. When you try on your basketball shoes, remember that they should fit securely but not uncomfortably tight. Keep looking and trying on shoes if you can't find one that fits snuggly.
