Matt Drudge Declares War on Chris Christie

We told you, Save Jerseyans: Christie angst is real.

Justified or not.

I don’t expect any of this to have a major impact on 2013; it could, however, transform the 2016 playing field assuming Chris Christie ultimately decides to play for a shot at the 2016 Republican nomination.

The latest evidence? Matt Drudge is using his considerable new media clout to slam New Jersey’s GOP Governor following this week’s Saturday Night Live cameo…

A little background: Matt Drudge is a known ally of key Romney Team insiders. Given the reported deterioration of that once-close relationship and the Governor’s recent smack down of Romney’s “gifts” comment, we shouldn’t really be surprised to discover fissures opening up in the Republican establishment between Pro-Romney and Pro-Christie forces. I’m not saying Drudge’s opinions are invalid, but this is high-level national politics, folks. You need to consider everyone’s possible motivations/alliances before rendering judgment.

Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was a hit during his first post-election swing in Iowa…

  1. This is a new low, this is completely misleading and factually FALSE. The link provided in the report "at a time when New Jersey residents still need help" is from Nov. 12…5 days before our Governor, went of SNL. Perhaps they should have search for more current news, Like the "Associated Press analysis of outage times from other big hurricanes and tropical storms suggests that, on the whole, the response to Sandy by utility companies, especially in hardest-hit New York and New Jersey, was typical — or even a little faster than elsewhere after other huge storms." -Nov. 16, 2012, 6:41 p.m. EST (THE DAY BEFORE SNL) http://www.nj.com/newsflash/index.ssf/story/power

Gov. Christie did a great job handling this and everyone that has been criticizing him because he welcomed the President of the US in New Jersey's time of need should come to NJ and see the destruction. If you think this is the reason Mitt Romney lost, you are completely delusional.

  2. Christie shouldn't have gone on SNL to make light of NJ and his role during the storm. Although, there is still nothing he can say or do that will close the rift in the Republican party. He may want to take a page from Giuliani but even Giulianai wasn't Giuliani. The increased attention post 911 was great for Rudy but he was already on his way out. Chris should stay out of the spotlight for awhile until more pressing matters call him to the cameras.

  3. Following study a number of of the weblog posts on your site now, and I genuinely like your way of blogging. I bookmarked it to my bookmark web page list and will likely be checking back soon. Pls check out my web web site as well and let me know what you believe.
